For technical folks only!
I created the theme as a Zen sub-theme. The Zen theme is one of Drupal's contributed starter themes. I took the background image for the dropdown menus from the Salamander Skins contributed theme. All the graphics are cropped from images I downloaded for free from dreamstime.com. Almost all were from Janybaby. The spider web background is from Artbyallyson.
The slideshow at the top of the home page uses the Views and Views Slideshow contributed modules. My portfolio uses the Views and Lightbox 2 contributed modules. The rest of the site uses Drupal core modules. I customized the contact page using some of Drupal's API's.
I use the CAPTCHA and reCAPTCHA contributed modules to help prevent spam on the contact form.
Update: I've done some additional back-end work to make my site easier for me to use. I'll add the details here when I can squeeze some more time from my schedule.
The site is (almost) entirely CSS-based. This means that I can change (almost) any aspect in a flash. Without going into too many technical details, pretty much the only thing that I can't change through CSS is the content of each page; the presentation of the content is completely modifiable. I can change font sizes and colors, graphics and much more. You can get a much better sense of what is possible through CSS by visiting CSS Zen Garden. The important thing for you to understand is that your website will be CSS-based, too. That's a good thing.
